Old Humberstone

Road Towards Humberstone

The Old Humberstone conservation area includes the old Humberstone village centre and stretches northwards as far as Gipsy Lane and Thurmaston Lane.

It was designated in 1974 and extended slightly in 2006.

Old Humberstone is one of Leicester's 'village' suburbs and dates back to at least Anglo-Saxon times. The conservation area centres on the church and village on Main Street and extends west and north into the fields and enclosures of what was the medieval farming community.
