How safe is it for my child to attend school?

Schools are considered safe environments for children and evidence is showing that the risk of spreading coronavirus is lower between children than between adults.

In countries where schools have been open for some time, data suggests that school opening has made little difference to the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

School is also a vital point of contact for public health and safeguarding services that are critical to the wellbeing of children and families.

Schools over the summer holidays have been busy assessing the risks and putting changes in place in preparation for opening to all pupils. This includes thinking about preventing possible congestion points in and around the school in line with social distancing guidance.
