Clarendon Park experimental scheme

A new experimental scheme is being introduced to address the problem of commuter parking in Clarendon Park. Unlike previous parking scheme proposals in the area, these experimental measures will be limited to a restriction on non residents parking between 9.30 and 10.30am on weekdays from 1 February 2021 to 31 August 2021. The scheme will focus on the streets immediately adjacent to Queen’s Road.

The scheme is designed to stop commuters from outside the area using the streets to park for free all day. The experimental nature of the measures will allow council officers to adjust them to meet local needs, or to stop the scheme altogether if residents feel it isn’t working.

If you live in one of the properties in the experimental parking zone you may be eligible for a permit for your vehicle. Permit holders can park in any residents parking bay within the zone indicated on the permit as long as the permit is clearly displayed in the vehicle. Please be aware submitting an application or waiting for it to be sent is not sufficient to park in a resident’s bay.

A valid permit must be displayed at all times. The following permits are available:

- A resident’s permit is vehicle specific and issued to residents who drive a vehicle which is kept in the experimental parking zone. Up to four resident’s parking permits can be issued per household.

- A carer/state pensioner permit is not vehicle specific. Only ONE carer/state pensioner permit can be issued per household.

- Business permits

Applications for permits should be made online.

Please contact Parking Services by email at parkingpermits@leicester.gov.uk if you have any further questions regarding available permits or permit application process. Please contact Traffic Management on 0116 454 3720 for information about the scheme itself.
