Local action project

We worked alongside Soar Catchment Partnership, Environment Agency and the West Country Rivers Trust to identify local opportunities to make improvements to our water environment, these are compiled as case studies in the Local action project.

What is the local action project?

The local action project was funded by Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and selected Leicester as one of only four cities across England, where a Catchment Area Based Approach (CaBA) could be implemented, the aim is to deliver cross-cutting improvements to our water environment. The partnership produced a series of case studies which you can view in the local action project report, which you can find at the bottom of this page.

How will improvements be implemented?

Analysis and evaluation of local conditions and ways in which multiple benefits can be implemented, in a cost-effective way. A range of scales have been identified and trialled in the form of a toolkit for use by community-led partnerships and environmental professionals, to deliver projects that will provide benefits to local people.
