Arts and Culture
Leicester is a vibrant, multicultural and wonderful place to visit and live, offering an exciting array of arts activities across a host of venues and local sites.
We provide dedicated arts advice and support for artists, community groups, creative industries, and commissioners, across a diverse programme of arts and cultural production. The arts team work closely with a number of council services, including Museums, Festivals and Events, LCB Depot and Visit Leicester.
We are proud of the innovative work delivered in Leicester for all our communities, we have a thriving arts scene with galleries, artists’ studios, and multiple National Portfolio Organisations. Leicester City Council also support international theatre Curve, Phoenix digital arts centre and the young people’s arts charity Soft Touch Arts.
Leicester has a dedicated Cultural Quarter at St George’s and is host to a plethora of public artworks, statues, and monuments, with many of the city’s walls featuring large-scale murals and world class street art.
