Leicester and Leicestershire Rail Strategy
The Leicester and Leicestershire Rail Strategy examines how changes and improvements to rail services and routes would help boost the area’s economy.
The report outlines the city and county’s rail priorities up to 2043 and has been jointly drawn up by Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and the Leicester and Leicestershire Economic Partnership (LLEP).
Plans for the area include a connection onto the Government’s HS2 High Speed train link and the upgrading of the Midland Main Line.
Rail industry bodies, business groups and neighbouring councils are due to be consulted on the draft strategy before it is finalised later this year. You can download a copy of the strategy at the bottom of the page.
