User groups and friends groups
If you want to make a difference to your local park, join a user group. Park user forums allows you to voice your ideas, your concerns and even participate.

The following parks in Leicester have user groups:
- Abbey Park
- Aylestone Hall Gardens

'Friends of' groups
'Friends of' groups are independent community groups who work with us to improve or promote their local parks, woodlands, nature areas and other public places. These groups can have a positive influence on a park or open space, and local groups have already provided play areas, improved fishing lakes or held events on their local green spaces.
The groups care about their environment and want to have a say in how it's looked after. They are independent of the council, which gives them the freedom to carry out projects in their parks.
We're keen to encourage more 'Friends of' groups and we would welcome enquiries from anyone interested in joining an existing group, or forming a new one. If you're interested, please use the contact details at the bottom of this page to get in touch.
Below is a list of existing 'Friends of' groups. Some have contact details - you are welcome to contact the group directly:
- Aylestone Meadows appreciation society
- Castle Hill Country Park - email Stuart Harlow
- Church Fields
- Evington Park & Village Green
- Knighton Park
- Knighton Park Gardening Club
- New Walk
- Victoria Park.
