Am I eligible to book on a cycle training course?
To find out if you are eligible to book on a training course, please see the map attached at the bottom of this page which outlines the boundary area.
What does the training include?
Our aim is to teach you to cycle or increase your confidence.
- You will be taught by qualified cycling instructors who will work at your pace
- We will supply you with a bike for the training sessions if you do not have one
- You will need to book a place on a course before you attend
- The courses include five sessions on consecutive weeks on the same day and time each week.
If you have any questions about the courses, please contact the walking and cycling team by email at cycletraining@leicester.gov.uk.
Course levels
We are able to teach complete beginners or those that can already ride.
Level 1
This is taught somewhere off-road like a playground or park.
Level 2
We will go to quiet residential streets where you will begin to learn about side roads, how to pass parked cars and road positioning.
Level 3
This level is meant for more advanced cyclists.
Practice makes the difference
The lessons are weekly, but we encourage you to get as much practice as you can. Even if you just borrow your child's bike, you will find you learn much quicker.
