Hate crime

Hate crime can range from verbal abuse, graffiti or nuisance calls through to assault or worse. If you're a victim of hate crime, or know someone being targeted, you should report it.

People can be targeted because of who they are or who someone thinks they are based on their age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or transgender status.

How do I report an incident and what support can I get?

We work closely with the police and other agencies to prevent all forms of hate incidents/crimes by taking action to support and protect victims. We encourage anyone who is the victim of, or witness to, a hate incident or crime to report it immediately.

You can do this by:

  • By calling the police on 101 (or in an emergency always call 999)
  • Reporting and getting support via Victim First: call 0800 953 9595
  • Reporting it online via the Stamp It Out website
  • Reporting anonymously via the CrimeStoppers website or call them on 0800 555 111.
