Computer skills for beginners

If you're a beginner when it comes to computers, we have training courses that can help you learn the basics and get online.

Are you a complete beginner with computers? Are you worried about using them? Have you heard scary things about the internet? It doesn't matter- we're here to help. We have nine UK Online Centres, which were established to get you started with computers. Two of our other libraries offer alternative computer support sessions.

In our UK online sessions, we use the Learn My Way website which has been designed to help complete beginners and those who wish to gain confidence in using computers and exploring the internet. The course is provided in separate modules that you can complete over a number of weeks. You will have a computer for your personal use and can work at your own pace in a safe and supportive environment, so there is no need to worry about keeping up with anyone else. There will always be a member of staff or knowledgeable volunteer on hand to give individual assistance.

Two other libraries, Highfields and Rushey Mead, offer alternative one to one sessions. For more details about what these sessions include, please contact the library in question.
