Apply for housing

Leicester HomeChoice is a choice-based lettings scheme, where council and housing association partners advertise their available properties to rent. It allows applicants who are looking for affordable housing to see what vacant properties are available. Applicants can then choose a number of properties they wish to be considered for.

We are currently taking longer than usual to process housing applications and enquiries/change requests due to an increase in demand for services. We normally aim to respond to applications for housing, and changes/enquiries, within 28 days, but unfortunately this will now take longer. 

We respectfully ask that customers are patient with us at this time. We would like to reassure customers that we aim to get back to normal processing times as soon as possible.

We would also like to reassure customers that in cases where applications/change requests plus all required documents are submitted in full, and no further information is required, we will remedy any delay by back-dating the priority award or change, meaning there will be no detriment to the customer’s application.
