Library book order and collect service

Find out how to order and collect books whilst we remain closed. For all other service changes, go to our service updates page.

Computers, internet and wifi

We provide free computing, internet & WiFi facilities to library members. All our libraries have public computers and free WiFi.

Public computers

Our public computers are connected to the internet and Microsoft Office software is installed. Most web based email services can be accessed in the library. All our computers have security and anti-virus software and any device you attach to our computer will automatically be checked for viruses.

Printers and scanners

All computers are connected to a printer and printouts are available in black and white or colour; charges apply for this service. Most libraries also have an A4 scanner which can be used with specified computers; if you need to use the scanner we suggest that you phone the library to discuss your needs as we cannot guarantee immediate availability and scanners are not supported on all computers.

How do I book a computer?

You can book a computer up to a week in advance, in the library, over the phone or by following the 'Book a public computer' link above.

How do I save my work?

If you need to save your work, you will need your own flash memory (USB stick) or you can use one of the many free online storage facilities. If you save work to our computers, it will be automatically deleted at the end of your session; this is to protect your confidentiality.

WiFi

The WiFi service is free and easy to use and is available in all our libraries. Most personal devices are supported, including laptops, iPads, smart 'phones and e-Readers. We also provide 24/7 WiFi coverage in Town Hall Square. It is your responsibility to protect your own WiFi device from viruses and malware.

Printing from WiFi

WiFi printing is available at all Leicester Libraries.

You can access it from Android and Apple devices, Windows laptops and Windows phones. Unfortunately, WiFi printing is not available from non-smart phones, Blackberry devices, Samsung S3 phones or laptops that use a Linux operating system. You must be a library member to use WiFi print services.

Once set up on your device, prints are available for collection from the counter upon receipt of payment.

The following documents will assist with setting up your device to print:
