Evington Leisure Centre

Evington Leisure Centre has two swimming pools with family and accessible changing facilities, a 45-station gym and sports hall. Find us at Downing Drive, Leicester, LE5 6LP.

Evington Leisure Centre remains closed

Following government guidance this facility will continue to remain closed from 2 December, until further notice. Until we reopen fully, all Active Leicester members can use the facilities at Spence Street, Cossington and Braunstone which will reopen from 2 December.

Coming soon – your new gym

As part of a £2.9m council programme of capital investment, the gym at Evington Leisure Centre is undergoing a major refurbishment and extension. This follows similar projects at Cossington Street Sports Centre and Aylestone Leisure Centre.

What's changing?

The new development will feature:

• 70 station gym
• Virtual spin studio
• New group exercise studio
• Functional training space
• State of the art cardiovascular equipment
• A dedicated free weights area

When will it happen?

The project will take place across several months. External work will begin in mid-October 2020, with internal work on beginning in the New Year. At this point the gym will be unavailable until the project’s completion in June 2021. Don’t worry though, all other facilities will remain available (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) and as an Active Leicester member, you can still access our six other gyms across the city as part of your membership!

Book in advance

Please book any sessions or classes in advance, to avoid disappointment. In order to book, you will need to be an Active Leicester member. We also advise that members pay in advance to save any unnecessary contact on arrival. When you come to our centres, please arrive in appropriate clothing (‘beach-ready’ if you are coming to swim) as our changing rooms may be unavailable.

In addition to the measures mentioned above, we are reducing the number of classes and relocating some activities to ensure the centre doesn’t get too busy and social distancing can be maintained. You can find the timetable at the bottom of this page.
